A bunch of beautiful proofs have arrived in our offices, and our dodo Pickwick is feeling pretty generous. But, Pickwick is a proud bird and she would like you to compose a verse in her honour. More specifically, a haiku.
Compose a dodo-themed haiku and submit it on Twitter, or in the comments below, and you could three of our most beautiful proofs: The Book of Phoenix, The Hunter’s Kind and The Long Way To A Small, Angry Planet.
If you’re a bit rusty on haiku composition, a haiku is a verse comprised of three lines. Line one has 5 syllables, line two has 7 syllables and line three has 5 syllables. Simple.
We’ve already had some great entries, check them out here if you’re in need of inspiration.
The competition is open to UK residents only and closes 24th April.

Title is gone and is as
Dead as a dodo
(The musings of a disgruntled Man City fan)
I guess I’ll have to be getting my thinking cap on for this one. Though just how much thinking time do I have?
You have until Friday! 🙂
Pickwick for Thursday
The best kind there is, clearly
You know what I mean 🙂
Pickwick, oh Pickwick
Last remnant of dodokind
How you soar… inches
I know, it’s not my best. Maybe I’ll have another crack before friday.
End inauspicious
On paradise Mauritius
Sailors’ delicious
Long gone flightless bird
Many creatures since expired
Resonate far less
The greatest thing of
The Posthumous Papers Club
Is Pickwick herself
The Do-Do is a no go
Since the Extinction of the bird
A flightless wonder no more to be heard
Do-Do is no go
Since Extinction of the bird
A wonder no more be heard
Extinction event
Avoided by the fleetest of wings
And genetic help
Majestic she is
A Dodo thats loved by all
Beautiful Pickwick
Bird that has no wing,
An evolution dead end,
Don’t tell the penguin,
The flightless Dodo
could waddle and prance
extinct through mans sustenance
Oh what a dodo
you are to dance so funny
I love you so much
Pickwick’s ancestors;
feathers and bone on the wind
unendless regret
