Hodderscape is where Hodder & Stoughton’s science fiction, fantasy and horror lovers hang out and shout about our books, as well as a few other things. We’re a place for fans of superheroes, vampires, sandworms, cats dressed as Pikachu and that feeling you get when you hear the Buffy The Vampire Slayer theme song.
On our site you’ll find news about Hodderscape books, competitions, exclusive pieces by our authors and lots of geeking out.
Hodder has a centuries long tradition of publishing some of fiction’s most mind-bending, spine-tingling, genre-defying books, and our list includes literary legends such as Stephen King, Frank Herbert, Tad Williams and Robert A. Heinlein.
Our genre list spans galaxies and timelines, worlds and species, from classics like Frank Herbert’s Dune to self-published sensations such as Becky Chambers The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet; from the literary delights of David Mitchell’s The Bone Clocks to the pulp pleasures of Stark Holborn’s Nunslinger series; from the magical world of Stephanie Garber’s Caraval to the horrifying village of Thomas Olde Heuvelt’s, HEX.
Wherever you want to go, whether it’s the mines of Mars, the Wild West or a sword-wielding fantasy world – we’ve got the book to take you there.
A few words about our logo
Like many readers of Jasper Fforde’s Thursday Next series, we fell in love with Thursday’s adorable domesticated dodo Pickwick. Though we wanted to clone a dodo of our very own, a few people had reservations about a dodo frolicking around the office, and we lacked the technology. So we got Sarah Anne Langton to design us our first dodo, and thus Pickwick the Hodderscape logo was hatched. You can see her original form here, and marvel at how she hasn’t aged a day.
Our dodo was reborn in 2018, with a stunning new design by Sofia Hericson. You can read more about Pickwick’s journey here, and see her in all her colourful and glorious costumes elsewhere around our site.
