Open Submissions – December Update

By Anne Perry

Posted on December 18, 2015 in News with tags

2015 is nearing its close… and many of you haven’t heard back from us yet. After the jump, we answer all your burning questions!

So, how are things going?

Slowly, I’m afraid… but the end is in sight! For the first round of reading, that is…

I haven’t heard back from you yet!

We are working as hard as possible to read everything once by the end of the year. Team Dodo is going to be working over the holiday to ensure that we get though the final submissions before the clock – (or your phone) – flips over to 2016.

If we decide not to move forward with your submission we’ll be in touch by the end of the year.

What if I don’t hear from you by the end of the year?

That means we’re getting second reads on your submission. So don’t despair! There will be further updates in early 2016.

I’m feeling very sorry for you guys. Having to work over the Christmas break is horrible… I know, I used to have to do it. Thanks so much for all of your efforts. I’m sure it’s a hell of s lot of hard work. Looking forward to hearing back from you either way. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for the update Anne, Team Dodo’s hard work and time is greatly appreciated by all of us, I’m sure. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

  • GW says:

Thanks for the update! So now I *don’t* want to hear from you before the end of the year because that means my submission is worth a second read…so conflicted!

You guys are the best. Thank you for all the updates. I received my rejection and even the tone of that was so sweet and awesome. So sorry you have to work through the break 🙁 I hope that you dig up an amazing gem that makes it all worth it!

Thanks for the update, much appreciated 🙂

Just don’t end up dead dodos from over-working!

  • Naoko says:

Thank you so much for the update! Echoing what the others say, I hope the reads are pleasant enough to bring you through the holidays, and that Team Dodo have fun over the holidays too!

I agree with all the comments above (except that I’m not using a new phone). Thank you for your work and the updates too. I’m picturing a Christmas tree in your office with tiny dodos hanging from it, in different postures and wearing different expressions. Reading, scratching head, smiling or frowning.. Merry Christmas

I have never wanted to NOT hear from a publisher so much.

First off, love the show! I’m a HUGE fan! Second, I’m super happy not to have a rejection letter – yet. Third, DAE think that reading & sorting all those submissions sounds like a dream job? If I’m not scribbling ideas, I’m reading, sounds delightful.

Made it to 2016! Woo hoo! Hopefully, this means we’ve made it through to Round 2!

Congrats to all who’ve made it this far!

  • S R Jones says:

Just wanted to wish all you at Hodderscape a very Happy New Year! 🙂

And the same to everybody who is still waiting and watching for updates- may the lack of news mean good things for your futures! 😉

Just in case anyone is still monitoring this page…I know you’re all very busy but is there any chance we could get a quick update? Even just knowing whether or not those of us who haven’t heard back yet really are onto second reads or if you weren’t able to finish reading them all yet would be awesome!

    • Alan Denham says:

      Second that!
Asking for individual emails would be much too selfish and demanding, but I would dearly love another public update – please?

    • Anne Perry says:

We’ll post an update next week, but the situation is as it was before: you will hear from us one way or the other as soon as we have made a decision about your project. We still have loads of submissions to get second reads on and decide about!
